The Area: Coromandel Peninsula
In New Zealand’s North Island, travellers will find a treasure chest of natural beauty in the Coromandel. An explorer’s dream, the Coromandel offers stretches of golden sand, an extensive marine playground and leafy forests. Much of the scenery is best enjoyed on foot or bicycle such as the 82km Hauraki Rail Trail. Ideal for families, the trail allows an up close and personal look at the picturesque scenery of the region as well as memorable sights along the way.
Nature’s Window Retreat is located 20 minutes from Thames, a town that boasts a rich historic past. Take a guided tour through a gold mine or venture to the 15th largest kauri, estimated at 1500 years old, on the Peninsula on the Square Kauri Walk. The town is also a hub for all things culture and craft, with a number of shops offering fresh produce and artistic wares.
Reviews
As a young couple we rarely treat ourselves to a getaway quite like this but it was all worth it! Awesome hosts that are so welcoming. The pictures really don't do the view justice! Fantastic weekend!
